Modern Calligraphy

It was the combination of my fine art background and being a complete mush for romance that initially drew me to calligraphy (pun intended). Hand drawn type, whether it was calligraphy or otherwise, brought a refreshing level of care, craft and sincerity to the work. And frankly, it was fun to make something that didn’t involve a mouse or trackpad. This eventually led me to the wedding industry where I ended up building out invitation suites, lettered hundreds of envelopes, painted signs and bridal jackets.

Self-taught

I explored many different styles and mediums along the way. Using my iPad and pen, I blended photos that I took with different lettering styles. I continued with favorite quotes and excerpts, refining and curating my style along the way. I used brush markers, sharpies, and fine-tipped paintbrushes.
